Beautifying Oil

Body Shop Description....
Beautifying Oil is pure beauty in a bottle. Made with a lightweight blend of nut oils including Community Fair Trade marula oil, it gives instant hydration and a shimmering finish. This one has a totally tropical coconut scent.
  • For body, face and hair
  • A little goes a long way!
  • Tropical coconut scent
I have been using this for a few months & I am totally in love with it. Being a Body Shop at Home Consultant I have now managed to collect 4 of these: 1 coconut, 1 satsuma and 2 strawberry!!

So many people ask me about this product & what it can be used for, so here is what I have found, hope this helps all my confused customers....

Body

This can be used on the body in 3 ways, on the dry body, damp from the shower or for shaving.

-Dry-
To add a lovely shimmer to your skin (before a night out for example or to highlight your tan during the summer or after a holiday) apply a few drops into the palm of your hands and massage into the skin on the arms, around the decolletage and on legs, of course you can add it anywhere, I just find it looks great in these areas.

-Damp-
When getting out of the bath before towel drying smooth on to the body, especially legs after shaving, this locks in the moisture by combining with the water droplets & makes your skin feel super smooth AND because you are getting dried afterwards, if you are not a big fan of oil then this is the best way for you to get the benefits of using an oil without feeling oily at all.

-Shaving-
I had never in my life thought of using an oil to shave, so when I heard about this use for the oil I though I would give it a go.
I have to admit I have mixed feelings about using the beautifying oil for this purpose as it has its positives & negatives I just can't decide which outweighs the other - so first of all, I had heard you can use the oil on dry skin, or wet skin to shave, I have tried both.
First I tried wet, in the bath, rub a small amount on the legs (or wherever you want to shave, my other half uses it on his face) you only need one or two drops, then just shave.
The positives are, it makes your legs feel silky smooth, as it gives you a closer shave than my usual shaving foam and also moisturises at the same time. The negative is that it can clog up your razor & I haven't really found a great way to solve this problem.
As I mentioned you can also use it dry, and this great for when you are in a rush & don't have time for a bath/shower but really want to wear a skirt, again the positives are it leaves your legs lovely & smooth & shiny when using it dry, but it also can clog up your razor - this is just my experience though, it could be that I don't have the best razor in the world (venus disposable).
I was also given a tip from my sister (a qualified beauty therapist) that using the oil under shaving gel (combination of both)gives the closest shave, while also offering the benefit of moisturising, and this is now the method I use.

Face

I was a bit dubious when I saw you could use this on skin, as I have very oily skin already, so I did a little research before using this on my face, especially as I am prone to breakouts of acne.
I have always gone for products which I hope will 'soak up' the oil - I found was that using an oil can work with the oils in the skin, helping to remove makeup and dirt from your face I also found this quote - "so similar to the oils in your own skin, it can actually trick skin into thinking it produced enough oil".
I've found that since using it, not every night but about twice a week (when my skin feels like it is getting a little dry), that my face has become less oily & I am suffering a lot less from breakouts. Also my skins texture is a lot smoother even though I have always had big pores.
Not sure if this is all down to this one product or a combination of a few others, but this was the first one I started using & there was definitely a difference, and it smells great.
If its great on my skin, I imagine it must be heaven for people with dry skin!

Hair

Again there are a few ways you can use this on the hair. To be honest I have only tried one of them, as with my face I have quite oily hair. I will explain anyway for those of you that maybe have dry hair though.

-Dry-
Use a couple of drops of the beautifying oil, smooth onto the lengths of the hair (best to avoid the roots) to give your hair extra shine & leave it smelling lovely, would be nice after straightening to help tame fly away bits of hair and to add to the shine of lovely straight hair.

-Dry on a night -
This is the method I use, as I dye my hair very blonde it gets really damaged and dry on the ends (stays oily at the roots).
After dyeing  my hair or when it is feeling particularly dry, I massage a few drops of the oil into the scalp and rub into the end of my hair. Then sleep. Let the oil soak into the hair & then wash your hair as normal in the morning, it really does help improve your hairs condition dramatically!

-Wet-
I think you can also use this on wet hair, although I haven't tried this myself.

Ok well that's your lot, I hope you enjoyed my blog & if anyone else knows of uses I haven't listed here please be sure to share them with me.
